A story of a night with thunder and darkness
I was an evening in July. I was in my room and was reading a novel on the fantastic detection of Perry Mason by Agatha Christie. All along the evening it was raining. As I was reading the story, it was getting more and more interesting. I wanted to finish it off reading it all though it was very late in the night.
Suddenly, there was a clap of thunder and a brilliant flash of light in the sky. All the lights went out with a big explosive sound from the nearby transformer. In an instant, it became absolutely dark all around me. I could not even see the book in front me. I laid the book aside on the bed.
The rain became heavier and was making a lot of rustling sounds. A quick gush of air hit me on my cheeks and I shivered violently. I was a bit afraid of the total darkness. The murder scene during the rainy night in the novel was still fresh in my mind. I felt a chilling sensation going through the spine on my back. Immediately, I lied on the bed and covered myself with the blanket that was on the pillow. I started praying God. Through the window some the rain water was splashing inside the room. I felt some water drops falling on the blanket too. But I did not open my eyes or remove the blanket.
I could not sleep immediately. My nerves were still tense and eyes were fully awake. There was the strange feeling of fear, but also of courage. I knew from somewhere inside me that nothing would happen. But there was a feeling something was going to happen. I did not want to miss it.
I could hear some sounds of someone nearing the door of my room. Immediately, With horror, I realised that the murderer was coming to kill me, because I knew that he was the murderer. I recalled that I bolted the door. I felt much better. I wanted to shout that the murderer was at the door. But, I couldn't. There was not a word coming out of my mouth. My heartbeat became quick and I began to feel the flow of the blood rushing through my face. The face became heavier. I lied on the bed silently with all my ears nose, eyes all warm and tense. I was feeling the warmth of my own breath. I could hear nothing but my own breath and heartbeat.
I did not know when I slept off. When I regained conscious, it was quiet all around me. I opened my eyes slowly and realised it was early in the morning. There was the orange red Sun rising in the East. The cool and fresh air made me feel so pleasant and comfortable. Looking at the Sun, I was feeling very happy, peaceful and safe. I was feeling better now as I looked at the birds on the nearby trees, and as I heard their sounds. The rain stopped already.
I went in to the bathroom to get ready and to have a cup of hot Chocolate, the most inspiring way of starting the day. While I was having the coffee, I reflected upon the novel I read and the happenings of last night. I felt a chill again going through my body.
